Munnster -> Unable to delete exchange after migration (19.Aug.2005 1:47:00 PM)

Currently in the testing process of moving our exchange 2003 server, which is currently on a DC, to a beefier member server.

I have followed the directions, from this MS article: How to remove the first Exchange Server 2003 computer from the administrative group

Everything appears to be working, except when i try to remove exchange server on the original server.

I get the following error msg:

"The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Services" cannot be assigned the action "Remove" because:

-You cannot uninstall this server as there is at least one postmaster account currently homed on this server. Please move this account to another server before attempting to uninstall."

I have replicated all public folders, rehomed the offline address book, schedule+ free busy folder, rehomed RUS, and changed the routing master, and finally all mailboxes are moved over to the new exchange server.

Notes:
- Exchange 2003 currently on windows 2003, which is the only DC.
- Server and exchange are on SP1.
- Adding a second DC to production environment.
- Everything appears to be working in the test environment.

Any ideas?

You need to make sure all accounts with an SMTP address is moved/deleted before you can delete the server. Follow below MS KB article and should can carry on with your migration.
