i tried with admin mailbox and this works fine... how come it does not work with user mailboxes?

alhall2000 -> RE: transferring mailboxes (7.Aug.2002 5:29:00 PM)

It doesn't work with other users because you do not have enough rights to the mailboxes. The administrator does not get full rights to other mailboxes by default in E2K.

Give the admin account "Send As" and "Receive As" permissions at the Store level and it should work.

@ store level you say..

in AD U&C - users - right click users - tab security

i have all the rights (except full control)

so i have
-receive as
-send as
and a whole lot of other things

but still i cannot complete exmerge

urgent reply needed please

Not in AD U+C but through Exchange System Manager console.

Open the properties of the store where the mailboxes are located. Change the security permissions there.

XADM: How to Configure the Administrator Account to Use ExMerge 2000 on Exchange 2000
The information in this article applies to:
Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server
In Exchange 2000, organization administrators and domain administrators are specifically denied Receive As and Send As permissions. However, if you want to use the ExMerge utility on an Exchange 2000 computer, you must specifically grant permissions to the Microsoft Exchange Server administrator account that you want to use with ExMerge.
To change permissions on the administrator account so that you can use ExMerge 2000 with Exchange 2000:
1. Log on by using the administrator account, and then start Exchange System Manager.
2. Browse to the following location:
Administrative Groups/Servers/ Server_name/ Storage_group/ Store_name
3. Right-click the store name and click Properties.
4. Click the Security tab, and then click the administrator account.
5. In the Permissions section, in the Allow column, click the check boxes next to Receive As and Send As, and then click OK.
