I can't archive from Exchange 2000 mailbox to a PST file. When I try it appears to be archiving and generates no error. However the mail messages remain in the mailbox and are not moved to the PST file. There are no mailbox size limits so I know this is not the issue though it is listed as causing the same symptoms. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

If you are having a problem with archiving, try to change the delivery location path to the PST to see if any mail is delivered there.

Otherwise, consider using EXMERGE to see if your client is having the problem!

I have tried changing the PST location but it doesn't seem to make any difference. What is EXMERGE?

The problem seems limited to Windows NT and Windows 2000 machines.

We're having the same problem with a user here. We've just converted from Lotus Notes 4.6 to Exchange 2000. We've removed restrictions on the mailbox so he could send email, but when we try to archive to a mapped drive (as he is using Outlook through Citrix as a published App.), the only thing to appear on his home dir is a 32KB pst file. I'm at a loss. Anyone who can help, I'd appreciate it.

btw, I'm a junior exchange administrator.

I know this may be a basic question, but what size are your pst files? Outlook has a limit of 2GB and when you get close to that size the archive starts to do funny things.

Size is not an issue for me. We are well below 2GB.

If we were able to create the PST as the user, it would be about 350-700MB before the conversion.

Archive will not work unless you archive AFTER the modified date stamp that is on the individual email/folder in Outlook.

We had discovered this after we did a dozen or so mogrations form Lotus Notes to Outlook. To solve this, we archived the entire mailbox, and set it up for the user to clean out.

No more issues.
