Custom spam folder & server side rule? - 16.Feb.2005 8:25:00 PM
I would like to create a new folder called 'spam' for all exchange users globally (that would appear below their inbox) How do i go about doing this or where should i start looking to find out?
Also once i have created this folder for every user i want to make a global server side rule which will move any messages with "****SPAM****" in the subject line to the user's spam folder automatically.
Don't want to re-invent the wheel here, has anyone else done this? Please help.
There are two ways you could achieve this. One is to create a user called Spam and give everyone rights to that users mailbox and then set their profiles to open this mailbox when they start Outlook. You could then have folders for each person in there if you want.
The other option is to create a Public Folder. I would probably recommend this one as it will then mean that spam is not being kept in the Private Store and it is easier to give everyone access to it, etc.
The rule is not as straightforward as you would like however. Unless the tool that is adding the SPAM message to the subject can redirect the email to another user (i.e. the SPAM user) or to a folder then you will have to create the rule for each user to move the spam they receive to either the SPAM user or the public folder.
Hopefully this gets you started. Feel free to ask some more questions if you want more specific help and let us know what program you are using to tag the spam.
i am using a linux based solution with postfix and spam assassin.
basically it permits all the mail through but the mail going to each user that fails the spam test the subject line is prepended with ***SUSPECTED SPAM***
so i wanted everyone to have a spam folder in their mail store with a rule that will move anything with the above tag in the subject line to each users respective spam folder.
Thanks Victor, yes this is what i am looking for. I was hoping to do it without any 3rd party software, but your product appears to be what we are looking for.
I will test the demo and contact you offline if we are interested.
