POP 3 Retreval - 18.Jun.2001 3:54:00 PM
Guest
I was wondering if there are any imple tools about to JUST download pop3 from more than one mail box and put it through exchange 2k.

i've seen mail essentials and frankly its a bit of overkill for this little stumbling block.

basically i've got a pop3 retreiver atm but the mail it downloads i have to put in the smtp vs2(just stup one for this task) pickup directory. But exchange treats it as local mail and as such anything addressed externally, it trys to deliver.

any help greatly appreciated
Matt

Doesn't the Exchange POP3 Connector do this? I have mine set up to retrieve about 20 specific POP accounts at an ISP and drop them into specific accounts. The POP3 Connector will also deliver to Mailing lists, and will sort through a common POP3 mailbox by delivering the messages based on the "To:" header.

How can i install the pop3 connector ?
Are you using exchange 5.5 or 2000 ?
I can't find a pop3 connector within 5.5.
There is a pop3 protocol, but that's for the clients to connect to the exchange server using pop3.

Try out PopRoute - it's FREE and the source code is available - we use it on our Exchange 2K server and you can collect POP3 mail from various servers and get them automatically fed into configurable Exchange mailboxes - you'll need to run it under scheduler to kick it off from time to time.

An excellent product which fits our needs and of course helps on the budget !

I use Omniquad Mailwall (latest release is v1.6) this has many extra functions (disclaimers, virus scanning etc and many policies for handling mail) I find it one of the best apps for smtp routing

Jon.
