Dave Patterson -> Automatic failover (14.Apr.2003 7:35:00 PM) Does anyone have expreience with automatically switching to a secondary remote exchange server. This is a disaster recovery issue I am trying to resolve - e-mail can't be down for more than 2-3 hours.

If I need failover for inbound, I just ask my firewall guy to change IP address to the outbound SMTP. After the inbound server's fixed, he points the IP address back. Louise

Guest -> RE: Automatic failover (1.May2003 6:19:00 PM) Hi Dave, I don't have much experience with this, but I do know that Veritas has a few products for high availability. There's no way out of the box to have a 2-3 hour failover time, since the mailboxes can't be moved from one server to another that fast (especially when it's down.) Take a look at Veritas's cluster service (I think it's possible to have a cluster be in two separate physical locations?) and Volume Manager - Either one may help you out. Matt
