when I uncheck "allow messages to be relayed to these domains" mail is neither sent nor recieved. When i check it, I become an open relay. I have multiple smtp connectors for multiple domains, does this make any difference when setting up smtp security? I have blocked several of the offending ip blocks in my router but this isn't going to stop someone from making a connection once the relay has been discovered.

uncheck "allow messages to be relayed to these domains" Open relay is bad!

Check all your other settings

Address space should be * for entire Org

On the smtp virtual server be sure to check these
Access tab
Authenication: check anon access, basic authenication and integrated windows

Relay:check "Only the list below " and "Allow all computers which sucessfully authenticate to relay"

Make sure all your domains are in the default recipient policy and are tagged for exchange to be responsible for their mail
