I know for instance i can traverse a file system with a utility like treesize to determine what the age of my files are.  Is there something so I can traverse the email structures to understand the age of the emails in the system. (IE, 30% > 7 years old)?

Traversing implies an Explorer-type interface and the answer is no.
If you are looking to report instead, you can report on messages older than 7 years by using a Recipient Policy and configuring Mailbox Manager. If you need something more detailed than that, you'll need to look to a 3rd-party solution.
