Hi all, One of my users Outlook.pst has grown to 10GB. This user looks like has closed 'Outlook' while System was writing to .pst file. Now, on opening the MSOutlook it is taking a long while to open (while 'task mgr' shows "not responding"). If tried to delete any email it gives 'Data Error: cyclic redundancy check' Have followed the document as in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319128
But, as my .pst is a huge one, the above kb is not helping.

This is a forum for problems with Exchange server and the PST file has no relationship with the Exchange environment. The only place it touches it is at the Outlook application. I would encourage you to Google for PST repair some more and try to find something that will either repair it or get you to a state where you can open it and recover the important stuff out of it.
When you're done with that, stop using PST files. Use the Exchange server. Use OST files. If you don't have the funds to beef up the Exchange storage get funds. If you cant, them get money to back up those PST files. PST files have been bad for years and remain so.
You haven't mentioned in your post which Outlook version you are using. Nevertheless, you need to know that the PST file of yours has grown in sixe and has become oversized. You will have to divide PST file which has become large in size with the help of inbuilt pst2gb.exe tool that is present in Outlook. I am not aware of its exact location but it can split the personal storage table into the respective smaller ones. Before running this application, make sure that you have made a backup of the respective file
It is better to repair the corrupt PST file with the help of professional Outlook PST recovery software when it gets corrupt. Last time when my PST file was damaged, I have used a repair tool which helped me a lot to fix PST file and retrieve the data.
Instead of trying some different things, download the Outlook recovery software and fix your corrupt PST file.
Abrupt system shutdown, virus contamination and sudden power failure may cause corruption in the PST files which further results in inaccessibility of data. To avoid data corruption, you can choose the inbuilt PST repair tool which is commonly known as Scanpst.exe. When this tool fails, third party PST recovery software is used.

Since you are thinking of deleting the mails, what can be done in such a situation is, you can export your EDB into PST. Then import selected data into a new mailbox. This will decrease the size as well as preserved the old data as well.
