Hi I have encountered an issue and am not sure how to get by it.

I need to create 2 Distribution Lists both with the name or alias of contact.

So contact@nowhere.com and contact@somwehere.com

After i create the first DL and go to create the alternate 'contact@' email address it indicates that 'contact' already exists.

Is there anyway around this?

thank you.

Depends on how you have your recipient poilicies set up. Sounds like you have one domain that gets both addresses, one of which gets stamped as primary.

Sit down and think about how you have it configured. Easy workaround is to untick the "update address based on policy" and then assign the addresses to the places you want and delete the ones you don't want.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for your answer.

Unchecking the update based on policy doesn't seem to help as when i enter the name 'contact' it tells me it exists. and doesn't allow me to proceed further.

For now what i have done, and probably what we should have been doing for the past 5 years is give each distribution list a very descriptive name, instead of having 45 lists with the name 'contact' or 'admin'.

Still not fully awake yet :(

thanks again.
