hi all,

Excuse me for my English, but i hope you guys will understand me :)

i have installed for the first time Exchange 2016.
Everything is working fine, but i have a little problem.

i can't configure Outlook with an mail account when i'm not in my local network.

It seems he can't find the settings for external use.
So i think the autodiscover function might be the problem,
but i have no idea how to change this and how to set this up properly.

Also,
When i open outlook, i get this error: the name of the certificate does not match the name of the site

which is strange, because i bought a ssl certificate that is working well.

Anyone who can help me?
Many thanks
Mathias

Hi,

You could check what exactly your problem is with the Remote Connectivity Analyzer: https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com

In general (and without knowing your environment and setup), I would say that you need a host record (A-Record) for "autodiscover.domain.com" and "mail.domain.com" in your public DNS pointing to your external IP-address of exchange.

Also you need to configure the external urls of the virtual directories "mapi" and "owa".
In the Exchange Admin Center go to Servers/VirtualDirectories edit the directories and enter the URL which corresponds to the external DNS-Entry and your Certificate-Name.

The certificate need to have the external Name (FQDN for example. mail.domain.com) and as a SAN (Subject Alternative Name) autodiscover.domain.com
