2 questions regarding a public folder with calendar items:

1. Is there a way to synchronize all items or certain items from a personal folder to a public folder? I know when you create an item you can manually copy it to another folder. I am looking for a more automated solution. Users would have to somehow mark items on their personal calenders as shareable/synchronizable items, so their actual personal items do not get synchronized. In the public calendar all items could be synchonized and I could just choose whose calendar to synchonize to.

2. When creating a New Appointment item in a calendar folder, there is a default field for location under the appointment tab. How do I populate that drop down with the names of conference rooms in my organization? This would eliminate the need for a calendar for each conference room, the room name would somehow be displayed with the appointment, i assume. Also, will this prevent double booking of a room? will there be some sort of pop-up that indicates that this location is already booked for this or part of this time period or do i have to rely on users looking at the calendar to see what time slots are open (that would be a miracle!).

thank you,
mike

Have you learned the answers to your question? I am trying to figure out much the same, especially your 2nd question.
I did learn that by setting up an e-mail for each of the resources, then forwarding a copy of the e-mails to me, it will allow the resource to be added to the invitation under Location (done via the TO: pop-up, just like inviting a person).
I would most appreciate you sharing what you have learned about this.

As far as the location field, it's populated everytime you enter a location.

So say you create an event for your Conf. Room #1, type that into the location field.

Now, attempt to create another event, same day or next week, and in the location drop down, you will see Conf. Room #1 already listed.

I am trying to modify Tom Horne's Enterprise Calendar to do this for my building resource calendar now. So far I have been able to schedule the resources on their own calendar and post a copy to a public folder. I have not put this into production yet and don't plan and going to production for at least a couple of more weeks.

One thing I did notice, is that the drop down is only populated on the machine the event was set on.

Out of the box, I do not see an easy way to populate that drop down menu.

The Outlook Location Field is a form object. You will need to go in a and designa new form and then determine what menu items will populate that dropdown. Onece that is done you can save and distribute the form to others.
