got two servers. one with 5.5 and one with 2000. the public folders replicated ok but when the 5.5 server died the public information store was still pointing to the 5.5 server. so when users look at the public folders it takes a while because outlook is trying to look for the 5.5 server. i did some research and found http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q284148/. but i can't do that since the server is down.

is there a way to change the path of the public information store with the 5.5 server not around?

Hi,

You should still be able to perform most of the steps in the article you mention and by this remove the 5.5 server from your Exchange organization.

You might have to repoint sitefolder name in AD to use the new server.
