This is pretty straight forward.
First, create a Contact in Active Directory. Make it mail-enabled, and add the e-mail address (user@aol.com).
Next, go to the account that you want forwarded. Under Exchange General, click on Delivery Options. Click the Forward To button, and click Modify. Select the Contact you created in step 1. Make sure you check off "Deliver messages to both forwarding address and mailbox".
That's it. All mail to the main account should also be forwarded to the AOL account.
Hope this helps.

The email address type for the AOL contact should be SMTP.

DoakC is correct, it is supposed to be SMTP. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough with my instructions.

Hey guys, how do you address the problem if the outside email address you are forwarding to is down and a bounce back is sent to the user. Wouldn't this create a loop ? Any way of handling this loop?

I think that would only happen if the user who's mail is being forwarded, was the one that sent the mail originally. Not sure how I would handle it, but I doubt it would happen too often.

I have set up the mail redirect to external smtp account via forwarding to a new contact and setting that contacts email address as the aol account, however now I get an MSExchange error:
MSExchange Transport; A non delivery report with a status code of 5.6.1 was generated for recipient.
The client is not receiving any redirected mails to his AOL address.
