some of my users are getting this message when the reply to a message only

'Kirk Arceneaux' on 8/15/2008 5:19 PM
The e-mail account does not exist at the organization this message was sent to.  Check the e-mail address, or contact the recipient directly to find out the correct address.

The message means what it says. The user doesn't exist. What it doesn't mean is that the message was delivered to the correct server. Presuming that this is to external recipients I would be looking at the SMTP logs to see whether it is connecting to the correct server.

Simon.

What does message tracking say?
It could be a delegate issue. Check whether there is an invalid delegate on the account.

Simon.

Message tracking has to be enabled. The tracking logs are queried in the Message Tracking Center which is part of Tools in ESM.

If Message Tracking is not enabled then you need to enable it on the Server Properties.

Ok message tracking is enab;ed and i looked at the message tracking center i see a email that the message tracking center says was delivered to a mailbox store but this is what I am getting in the windows event log!

Event Type: Error
Event Source: MSExchangeTransport
Event Category: NDR
Event ID: 3005
Date:  8/19/2008
Time:  6:57:48 PM
User:  N/A
Computer: ABMAIL
Description:
A non-delivery report with a status code of 4.4.6 was generated for recipient rfc822;tkimey@kimzeycasing.com (Message-ID  <200808192242.m7JMgM56047141@pro8.abac.com>).
Cause: The maximum hop count was exceeded for this message.  This non-delivery report can also be caused if a looping condition exists between sending and receiving servers that are not in the same Exchange organization. In this situation, the message bounces back and forth until the hop count is exceeded.  A configuration error in the e-mail system can also cause the message to bounce between two servers or to be forwarded between two recipients.
Solution: The maximum hop count is a property set on each virtual server and you can manually override it.  The default maximum hop count is 15. Also, check for any situations that might cause loops between servers.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Chasing after two hours isn't really going to speed up getting a response. If you can't wait then call Microsoft and pay their fee. No one gets paid to answer questions, therefore you have to wait until someone has time to look at your question.

The message is looping. That is what the NDR says. You need to look to see whether there are any forwarding rules set in Outlook, an automatic forward set on the account, something like that.

The original message is usually generated by an invalid delegate, so I would look for that as well.

Simon.
