Hi
I am in the process of installing exchange on a new server from existing
the new server has
5 146 GB drives

2 raid 1
a raid 5
what would be the best way to install

Please be more precise. What's that you wanna know ?

One thing that I would say:
OS Files, Log files and Database should not be on the same drive.

Regarding installation, If the current Exchnage server is up and running, then you can introduce the new server and start moving the mailboxes.

Make sure that in the new server, Exchange System Manager---> The transaction log files and the database should be pointing to the new drives that you have.

Revert back if you have more questions on that.

On a 5 disk system, two arrays is about the best you can do.
Partition the first array in to two so that you can put the logs in to a separate partition. The databases would then be on the second partition.
