Hi, Techies

I am facing a technical problem in Exchange 2003 enterprise sp2 envt. and need your help.

Here is the Situation.

I created Exchange 2003 test envt. similar to the prod envt.

1. Exchange 2003 Enterprise, SP2 -member Server
2. 2003 DC1, 2003 DC2 & DNS on  seperate server
Note : Above all are on MS Virtual PC2007

I took the back up on prod server (of mailbox database) say "My storage group" through Backup exec agent on Exchange server restored it onto same server at different location and then copied it onto the Test Envt. with all the log files.
With eseutil I noticed it was Dirty Shutdown state, so when I tried to repair it through / r rnn /L log file path and /d data file path it gives me error message.
error -514 <jet_errbadlogversion, version of log file isnot compatible with jet version>
In the system Event log it relects error message: Event Id: 455, Source ESE
Description: Error -1023(0xfffffc01) occured while opening logfile x:\xxx\xxx\e00.log
I think it could also be because of I ran the backup thru Backup Exec and just copied onto different server..!! Could this be the reason..?

So I ran Hard recover with /p switch. Though it took two days but finally it shows "Clean Shutdown"
After that I ran /d for defragmentation which wiped out the original edb and Stm file, thankfully i made copy of data before running defrag.

Then without running the defrag I copied the Clean shutdown data .edb & .stm into "Recovery Storage Group" folder and tried tp mount it.
It end up with error message in event viewer: 9518 & 9519

PS: The mailbox database, stm size is 49GB n 5GB apprx and there are approx. 97 log files with 5.2 mb size of each
I know this kinda confusing, but please feel free to let me know If you think I missed here any info to provide you.

Thanks in advance for your help.

HI Team,

i you recreate a exchange org are sure you have the same org name
becuase if you have a backup for the exchange and if you try to restore it to a exchnage in different org name you will get 1088 error message
we cannot mount the store

this even id will explain us about the change in the org name

the only possible step that we can do is reinstalling exchange with the same org name  and restore the database from back up

else we can use legacydn tool but it  is not safe in the production envir.

one simple trick is instead of taking back up and restore it
just have the flat file copy of the edb and the stm file put in the location on the new server and mount the store

thanks

As I mentioned I created the test envt. similar to Prod. Envt. Since there is no physical connectivity between the two I cannot restore backup to it. I am restoring the backup on backup server and then coping it from there.

There is no need of Legacy tool If I understood cleary that org & server names are same.

Also I cannot take a flat file backup as I cannot shutdown / offline prod. system.
