Hi,

I'm just setting up our corporate's mail server based on Exchange 2000. Then, I created an account and access it from my Outlook. It looks great when it first connected with 'Requesting data...' window. However, I begin to feel bad when it requests to server everytime I click on email items. I believe that there is a way to cache the items so that the messages can be viewed without has to request the data from Exchange server. Note that I'm working in online mode and dial-up connection.

If this can't be fix, doesn't it better to use POP mail featured in Exchange?

If this is the way Exchange works, by requesting data to Exchange server once we clicked on items (even that the items are marked read), that means Exchange will works slow and can't be accepted in ISP environment. Just imagine how our users interact with the emails if it need to request to server everytime they click on an item. Imagine how if they have 1000+ email messages to access.

Please advice.

Regards,
Jimmy.

"Note that I'm working in online mode and dial-up connection ." No need to say any more! You are trying to use a MAPI client (which used RPC) over a dial up connection. You are VERY lucky this works at all since many routers on the net close off port 135. In an "ISP environment" you would be crazy to use anything other then POP.
