Hello ! My name is Stefanus. I have to set up Exchange Server 5.5 with 2(two) Ethernet Card. One card for connecting internal network via internal firewall, and the other for connecting with external network via external firewall. This Exchange Server is located in the DMZ area . We have some public address and connected to the internet via broadband(wireless) and I set up DNS Server together with the Exchange Server 5.5 in one machine . What should I do to configure MX record,A record and CNAME record in the DNS Server for both Ethernet Cards? Should IP forwarding in the Windows NT control panel enabled to connect 2 Ethernet Cards ? or it should be disabled? The first Ethernet card for internal network is connected into internal firewall and the other ethernet card is connected to external firewall. What should I do to configure host,MX and Cname record both of the ethernet card?Regards, Stefanus

Hi, All your internal users will use WINS resolution to discover your exchange server (with MAPI) so nothing to do on internal DNS. For your external card, you just have to ask your provider (the one that take care about your domain name : www.mycompany.com and @mycompany.com) and ask him to create an MX record for your company. Depending on you configuration (especially on your router and firewall), you have find what is your MAIL IP address 'FROM' the internet (does your firewall NAT ?) Your exchange server must be able to send DNS requests to the internet to find mail servers of the others company. So make sure that your external IP address is ok to go through the firewall, and also make sure that your external card has the proper IP config, especiall DNS 1 and DNS 2. It can be the one of your provider, or your own DNS (depending on your architecture). Have fun Frederic Fesnouf@hotmail.com
