hi there

I have a small domain contains 250 client ,exchange server and some other database servers.
for some reasons the domain controller is down and I have to establish a new domain
and rejoin all of the servers to the new domain...
all of the services did work with the new domain very well(oracle,IIS,SQl,apache,GIS) but not the exchange server...

with some search on google I found the database portability feature is working only with servers in the same organization.

so I'm searching for a method that could return the server back in service with all of data, and here are the full details:

the exchange organization is only one server holding all the roles except (edge, UM roles)
the server is holding three storage groups (one for public folders) the other two holding two database (one for each)

could anyone help me please....

You need to do a full recovery. Take a look at this article and follow the steps.

Hi,

I think I agree with Mark. Despite this don't you have a backup of your AD etc so you could rebuild the new server and then restore the backup?

But maybe there's another option is the active directory name exactly the same ? And is it possible to install an Exchange environment with the same organization name in the new environment.

yes,,,

in fact there is no way back....
the disaster (a fire) did completely crushed everything (backup, OS and some servers) except some servers (SQL&Exch servers and Geographic information Systems servers)

so, a new domain is created with a different OS (2008 server), all  servers and services are rebuilt or rejoined and work properly except the exchange...

the new domain name is different...
the database portability feature didn't work well because of problem in mounting the database....
here is the error message:

"Mount-Database : Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database: mail.mailnajran.net\mailbox database; Error code: MapiExceptionCallFailed: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x80004005, ec=1276).
At line:1 char:15
+ mount-database  <<<< "mailbox database"

while these command are applied to the source server:
eseutil /mh of  my database is saying: clean shutdown

the command :
eseutil /r is giving error message of the sequence of the log files.

Have you restored Exchange DB ?
Has Exchange been rebuilt ?

quote:

the command : eseutil /r is giving error message of the sequence of the log files.

what is the above error exactly ?
Can we run the following command and check the problems in its report
Eseutil /ml "Location of the Exx" (do not attach .log at the end of Exx)
(Exx could be E00 or E01 or E02...depending on which storage group we working with).

Since your in clean shutdown your "log required" should be on 0-0 so running a /r will not work. The 0x80004005 error generally points to an access denied error but is fairly generic.

I'm guessing you have following errors in the event log?

Log Name: Application
Source: MSExchangeIS
Event ID: 9518
Description: Error 0x4fc starting Storage Group / on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store. MDB failed to start.

Log Name: Application
Source: MSExchangeIS
Event ID: 9519
Description: Error 0x4fc starting database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Database" on the Microsoft Exchange Information Store.

Log Name: Application
Source: MSExchangeIS
Event ID: 1089
Description: The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service was not started because the system distinguished name of the database "First Storage Group\Mailbox Database" may have been restored to a computer that does not contain the original database. In the Microsoft Exchange Management Console, indicate that the database can be a target for the restore, so that it can be patched.

Try checking the option on the database that sais "This database can be Overwritten". Remove all logfiles from the database location (best to move them). THen try mounting it.
